Although the common thread of progressive metal is evident amongst all the artists on this sampler, the diversity and creativity between them is what sets each of them apart. From the crushing tones of Ion Dissonance, to the more serene, progressive ambience of Chimp Spanner, there's something for everyone on this release who loves their metal with a bit more edge and a bit more forward thinking.
Blotted Science (The Animation of Entomology) are an absolute stand out band for me, Ron Jarzombek's skills are undeniably of another level, possibly of another planet.

Some of the most exciting new bands out there from the most forward thinking record label in the UK.
The level of quality on offer here is exceptional, if you're new to Basick Records and what they're all about and you're a fan of intelligent, progressive metal i'd be amazed if most of these bands don't make it into your regular playlists.

Some brilliant artists from this label. Monuments and Chimp Spanner to be mentioned. Can't wait for their releases. Definitely one to watch out for!

great showcase for great bands

Good in parts
Stand-out tracks for me were Chimp Spanners and Circles. "Dark age of Technology" very reminiscent of "Watcher of the Skies" from the Genesis album "Foxtrot". Read more
