Product Description

Amazon.co.uk

In spite of (or maybe because of) their Satanic moniker, Gluecifer have succeeded in opening a second front against the forces of goodness and light with Basement Apes and trying to rid their nation of Celine Dion--a feat they nearly achieved.

This album reached Number Two in the Norwegian charts just behind the diminutive Quebecois warbler. Such success only goes to show just how much Gluecifer have honed their punk-metal craft. With their Stooges-like thrust, a vocalist meshing Graham Parker’s cussing rasp with David Coverdale’s medallion machismo; their foolish faux-punk nom-de-plumes; Biff Malibu on vocals is a good one, Raldo Useless on bass is probably even better; and record collections stocked with the likes of: Kiss and Deep Purple.

These Norsemen sometimes come on like the Damned impersonating Def Leppard over the Rolling Stones early 1970s back catalogue. Yes, you’ve probably heard it all before. And yet, as the old saying would have it, when it comes to straight ahead honest-to-goodness rock & roll it’s best to stick with the devil you know. So that’ll be where Gluecifer got their name from then? --Kevin Maidment

Having heard of Gluecifer a year ago I bought their latest album Automatic thrill which was a fair album. It seemed that the first half of the cd was good and tapered off around half way through.

Then I decided to take another risk hoping for a more consistent album. If anyone is new to this band this album is perfect.

As soon as the first chords crunch out with a nice little rock n roll build up you get a real idea of where this band is coming from. Its all too easily likeable, the kind of music that you can put on your sterio and start your weekend.

Thats not to say it's all rock n roll party filled adrenaline. There are the more restrained moments in the form of single "Losing End" and my favourite song on the album "It Won't Be". The latter showing off a very bluesy feel and the guitar solo having almost the perfect end to end all solo's, truely serving the songs emotion.

Other stand out tracks are "brutus", "Not Enough" and "Powertools and Piss". Anyone that has listened to the clips on this page and enjoyed, should invest in this album without hesitation. Too bad they broke up

I've been fan of Gluecifer since Ridin' the Tiger album, but I've always felt that they play damn good stuff but still there's something missing, until that beautiful day came when Basement Apes came out. This album instantly blew my mind. This is rock'n'roll music as it's best. Just listen those guitar riffs, melodies, beat, that frikin' energy they got goin' on. Definitely best stuff they ever put out. Surely you got those nice riffs and beats in Ridin', Soaring and Tender albums but what you don't get is melodies and feel like this. This is one of those albums that you just want to listen over and over again, and I mean during same day. When the last note is hit you just can't resist of pushing play button once again. You just can't get enough of this album. In a way it's shame how cheap they sell this classic nowadays. So do yourself a big favor and buy this album while it's still available in way too cheap price. You won't regret, I promise.

HASH(0x9984b648) out of 5 stars Gluecifer Goodness 7 July 2003
By John C. Hocking - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Although likely to be eclipsed by the popular 'Tender is the Savage', this disc offers up a full measure of rip-roaring Gluecifer Goodness. In fact, some of their best stuff can be found here; 'Power Tools & Piss', 'Shotgun Seat' and 'I Saw the Stones Move' are some of the tightest, toughest tunes they've ever done.
An almost perfectly balanced blend of raw, hook-heavy guitar, vocals that are alternately snarled and howled, and strong, memorable song-writing. One of the best things to come out of the garage in years.

HASH(0x99852708) out of 5 stars This does rock.Hard! 26 Aug. 2008

I saw the bad review and had to step up and declare this is better than"Tender is the Savage" but not as good as "Automatic Thrill". The song "Black Book Lodge" is worth the price alone. This IS Rock n Roll!

HASH(0x99852780) out of 5 stars What the hell happened!? 9 Feb. 2004

This album sucks. THE worst of Gluecifer - and I seriously love this band. But in all honesty, the albums just...well, sucks. Get Tender Is the Savage.
