I bought this partly because of its specialised nature; concentraing on winter base training, and secondly because it is "endorsed" by Joe Friel, he of the cyclists training bible that the majority of competitive cyclists will know about.
Whilst most ot the information is useful, it dosn't really give any great insight as to why or how base training works, in fact there are a nmber of annoying pseudo-scientific phrases that he uses, such as muscles "learning" to use fat, or worse confusing power with force or endurance. Power is simplay a measure of rate of energy used / output measured as watts or joules per second. The author uses it as an adjective to describe a feature of a cyclists performance, which in this modern day of the mariage of power meters and sport science simply doesnt cut the mustard.
I only managed to get trough 3/4 of the book, and then fell asleep. Peraps best summed up as a useful extra for your bookcase, rather than a go-to reference.
