4.0 out of 5 stars Cool and edgy concept, 10 Jun 2009
This review is from: Baroque Motion - Blu-ray [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
I have been on the lookout for edgy content to show on my flat-TV and found this title to do the trick. Baroque Motion is just as the title says Baroque paintings in motion - what the creators have done is basically to take 17th century Baroque motifs and made them move in extreme slowmotion (think Rembrandt etc.). They used the Phantom HD High-speed-camera that shoots 1000 frames per second.

On the disc there are four different scenes + 2 bonus tracks - totalling just about an hour of material and the Blu-ray comes in a nice exclusive silver Digipack.

As the creators describe on the Digipack folder - the idea is to use this as a backdrop at social events (dinnerparties etc.) and use the TV without taking too much attention from your guests.

On the negative side - there is no sound on the disc which at first puzzled me but I have just put on my own music when having people over.

On the positive side - the concept is really unique and will definately be a conversation topic at your next social. Moreover, the picture quality is amazingly crisp and detailed with a bitrate of over 35Mbps.

To sum up, a nice alternative to the ol' fireplace-DVD.
