high end material from sony bmg (Vivarte, Harmonia Mundi), 23 Jan 2009
A great collectors item,
The performances on 2 cds of the works of Schutz (sony vivarte; now out of production) cost you more than this 50cd box.
The performances are very satisfactory. I have listened to 10 cd thusfar (the box was delivered yesterday), and I especially liked the musical offering by Bach, Anthems and Hymns by Purcell and Stabat Mater by Pergolesi.
To obtain the original cd recordings remains attractive in some cases because some of these cds contain highlights, and not the complete recordings (but some recordings are out of production and fetch 100's of dollars on Amazon!).
I hope that this box becomes a commercial success, and incite sony to (re)release more of their high end material (e.g. feast of san rocco, la Pellegrina) in such beautiful affordable products.
