A magnificent 3 Disc DVD box set capturing one of the world’s greatest music icons, Barbra Streisand, live in concert. In October 2006 Streisand embarked on her first North American tour in over a decade and her first tour of continental Europe ever. Thrilling both audiences and critics alike and setting new box office records at the same time. The main highlights on this stunning DVD collection include:
Disc 1: features the previously unreleased Fort Lauderdale show captured during her "Timeless Tour" in October 2006, with special guest multi-platinum recording artists, Il Divo.
Disc 2: features the classic 1994 show at Arrowhead Pond, Anaheim, California. A sensational event which documented her first concert tour in 28 years.
Disc 3: previously unreleased on DVD, "Putting it Together" – takes you behind the scenes of the making of the Broadway album, featuring all the classics--"Funny Girl", "THe Way We Were", "On a Clear Day", "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" and many more. Plus "The Music of the Night" and "Somewhere" performed with Il Divo.

Format:DVD
It is RARE these days that a release comes along which really does genuinely capture my attention but this 3-disc DVD set is one of those very special occasions.
What you get in this DVD set is an October 2006 concert which features Il Divo. So we are already off to a good start. But for me the true delight is to have Barbra's unforgettable July 1994 concert which had only previously been released on VHS, Laser Disc and VCD formats.
I remember going to one of the 1994 Wembley (London) shows and being absolutely astounded by what were truly knockout performances of so many Streisand classics. The highlight for me had to be the "Yentl" medley where Streisand sang a duet with a movie screen of herself in the original film.
Although I adore Barbra and have followed her career for years now (since a young boy) I am honest enough to admit that her vocal performances on her more recent shows have been "safe". The 1994 show however had a real edge to it and showcased Streisand's vocal prowess at its fullest (with no holding back). For that alone I rate this release with 5 stars.
One very slight disappointment is that "What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life?" has been left off this release - it was an exclusive bonus track on the Asian VCD release of the 1994 concert (a scarce release occasionally found on eBay). A missed opportunity!
Already we have a real strong case here for buying this DVD set. That is why it was a real surprise to discover the powers that be have decided to resurrect Streisand's fabulous 1986 VHS release "Putting It Together". This is a superb HBO TV special which features the original promo video for "Somewhere" (the first ever Streisand promo to be released on DVD), an interview with Barbra plus lots of recording session footage from the making of best-seller "The Broadway Album".
Also included are some performance highlights from an array of Streisand's TV musical spectaculars which are already available on DVD:
- "Barbra Streisand - My Name Is Barbra [DVD] [1965]"
- "Barbra Streisand - Colour Me Barbra [DVD] [1966]"
- "Barbra Streisand - The Belle Of 14th Street [DVD] [1967]"
- "Barbra Streisand - A Happening In Central Park [DVD] [1967]"
- "Barbra Streisand - Barbra Streisand And Other Musical Instruments [DVD] [1973]"
2009 IS SET TO BE A GREAT YEAR FOR STREISAND FANS. ALREADY THERE IS A 2-DISC US EDITION OF "YENTL", NOW THIS DVD SET AND DUE SUMMER 2009 IS A BRAND NEW "BARBRA STREISAND" STUDIO ALBUM PRODUCED WITH DIANA KRALL (WHO JUST RELEASED "Quiet Nights").

Well, the DVD filmed of the 2006/2007 concerts is finally here! For those of you who could attend one of the shows (I saw Barbra at the O2 in July 2007) it will not be a disappointment since the film, sound quality is of the highest quality and Barbra is in fine voice throughout. A great registration of a truly special event!
If you missed her, and have not ever had the good fortune to see her perform live then what better place to start making up for it, since you get not only this performance but also the Arrowhead Pond, Anaheim 'The Concert' show - only hitherto available on VHS and a much better set than the earlier 'The Concert' show in Las Vegas which has been available on DVD up till now. Add the third disc, which gives you excerpts and footage surrounding her 'Broadway Album'... and also clips from her various television specials (another box set well worth the purchase!) and you have the perfect introduction to Barbra the performer. If you ever get the chance again, please PLEASE find some way to go because I doubt we'll ever see the like of this woman again in modern music.

Format:DVD
I have been fortunate enough to have seen Barbra 3 times, and she still leaves you wanting more. From the moment she steps on stage she captivates her audience with the sheer "Spectacular" that is her voice and her wonderful wit and charm. The first time I went to see her was a 2 and a half hour concert and I can tell you it seemed at least 20 minutes. You come out feeling like your on the biggest high and you just dont want that feeling to ever end. The 2006 Concert, is finally released on DVD, as so many people could not afford the tickets, but you will not be dissapointed. From the moment she appears on stage the ovation for her is so overwhelming, and then the voice. I think `Starting Here Starting Now, is one of Barbra`s best opening songs she has recorded, and the way she sings it nobody but only Barbra can do. From there it just gets better. You will not be dissapointed. And with the other concerts included it is well worth the price. Barbra at her best!!! A True Superstar!!!!

This is an excellent product, at a realistic price! If you couldn't actually be there, this brings the whole show home to you with probably a clearer view!!
