Just received the new "Barbie: movie, as with all the other movies the graphics are superb. The story follows the pattern of all the other movies, Barbie comes to the rescue and saves Oceana. My 8 year old granddaughter loves the movie she is on her second viewing and has only been home from school 3hrs. Well presented movie, easy viewing and entertaining.

Barbie is Merliah whom is a surfing champion from Malibu. She is a normal teenager that has no idea of her family secret of being a mermaid! Merliah has a dolphin friend called Zuma and together they have an grand undersea adventure to rescue her mother, the queen of Oceana. Merliah makes friends with other mermaids who help her save the ocean kingdom. The animation is very good for a Barbie film especially the waves in the surfing parts of the movie. The story is fairly strong with some nice humour. In fact my daughter likes "In A Mermaid Tale" so much it's one of her favourite Barbie films alongside "The Magic Of Pegasus" and "The Diamond Castle".

I was never much of a fan of Barbie when I was little I tended to prefer the Disney Princesses (Mind you that was before they were put into a collective), however since her film day-bue Barbie has been shown to be a character with more ambition than to just look pretty and get married to Ken. Girls can now look at the miss proportioned mannequin and see not an unattainable body shape but a personality they can aspire to, and her latest offering is no different. Though the story is fantasy the sentiment is fact, if you stand up and do what is right and not necessarily what you want the world you liv in can be made a better place.
