'To Catch a Thief' is one of the great Alfred Hitchcock movies and the last movie ever to star Grace Kelly, who became Princess Grace of Monaco the year after the film was released (1956). This tribute doll captures one of the great scenes from the movie and the dress was one of the reasons that the film's costume designer was nominated for an Academy Award for costume design.
The doll is a fantastic replica of Grace Kelly (the face is a mirror image to the classic actress, and the hair a wonderful match including the stunning highlights) and the dress, in two shades of delicate blue chiffon, is beautifully created and styled (note the lovely clutch bag). The attention to detail is what makes these adult collector dolls so much fun and so soooooooooo collectable.
A Barbie 'The Birds', based on Tippi Hedren in the movie, actually being attacked by birds (seriously!!) is availble in the US (not in the UK though, frustratingly, but check out Amazon USA to see this incredible doll) so I'm hoping that Mattel are perhaps going to do a Hitchcock theme of dolls - 'Mrs Bates' anyone?
