Even by the low, low standards by which we judge Barbie toys, this is a failure. The stickers aren't cut all the way, so you end up tearing them all in half, and the stencils are so thin that they rip almost immediately unless you're extremely careful (hope your high-schooler is into Barbie). The sketchpad is a good idea--I wish a different company had come up with it so my daughter could actually enjoy it.

My daughter received this for Christmas this year. While the stencils are flimsy my four year old plays very well with them (we keep them far away from her two year old sister). She feels like a real fashion designer! We have a different problem with the stickers. Ours were cut too far into the paper and when we peel them off the paper comes with it. That is the only down fall that we have. My daughter loves these so much I've scanned the different styles of papers so she will have them later. Great toy!

After reading the previous review (and only other review at this point), I feel compelled to add my own. I bought two of these sketch books for my 4 and 9 year old daughters, and I think they are fabulous. Yes, the stickers are are little thin- more like decals, but we had no problem with them. And yes, the stencils could be made sturdier, but then the price would go up and we'd all be complaining about that. They're selling these books for a reasonable price here, so I don't find the quality to be a problem. The stencils work just fine for what they are intended. My daughters have not complained once about these sketch books being tough to use. They love the creative license that each fresh page provides to them. There are a variety of templates which they can further decorate with stickers and stencils (i.e. varying pictures of Barbie's face to which they can add makeup, hair, and jewelry accessories or pictures of Barbie's nails to which they can add decals, color, or designs). My daughters have both played with their books each of the four days we've had them since Christmas, and even taken them in the car with them while we ran errands. The price on these was quite reduced after the holidays, so I bought several to save for birthday parties later in the school year. Fun, convenient, and well worth the low price.
