I was only vaguely aware of the Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber prior to Orbit's version (I think I'd heard it in the film 'Platoon'). This single introduced me to one of the most poweful pieces of music I've ever experienced - the dance version is every bit as emotive as the original classic.
I never used to be a dance music kind of guy, but Orbit has shown me that it's possible to produce a breathtaking piece of music that lingers in the mind for a long time after the song has finished. As Shelley wrote, 'Music, when soft voices die, / Vibrates in the memory'. No voices here, just a great instrumental piece.
