I revisited this old favourite recently after an illuminating conversation with a friend on perseverance. It was as riveting as the first time I had seen it. Three generations of very strong willed women and gifted artists. The first generation gave it up and sacrificed so much of her life to see her daughter fulfil her dream, when her daughter dropped the dream to become an artist and pursued art in a different form, she was not happy and the cycle gets played full circle with the granddaughter. This movie is very akin to BTB's other books turned into movies; of very strong women who despite the odds and the disasters, work had to succeed and triumph against adversity. It had so many life lessons. I felt enriched after watching it again and would recommend it in a heartbeat as a great movie filled with life lessons. The cast ensemble was excellent and did a good job in bringing to life this complex but beautiful tale of love, loyalty, friendship ,family and most importantly allowing one to go one's way.
