I was worried this collection would be of old editions, or have faded pages, or something else wrong with it, but I'm pleased to say they are the latest Virago editions in new, pristine condition and would have cost much more to buy separately. They come as individual books wrapped into a block of five by cellophane. Superb value and a purchase I am very pleased with.

I have only read 'A Glass Of Blessings' so far, and it has really taken me by surprise. I wondered if I could stick with a book focused on a gossipy community obsessed with the local vicarage's occupants, but I have found Pym to be ridiculously addictive, and The Barbara Pym Collection to be the perfect tonic.

I read a lot of Barbara Pym a decade or so back and loved her restrained prose and the now archaic attitudes and values of the characters in her books.
They are books for a particular mood, prim, gentle and mannered and I will enjoy reading them again.

This is a genuine bargain for anyone who appreciates the acute observation and simple, elegant prose of Barbara Pym with her special talent for revealing archly the supreme silliness of much of every-day life.

This pack of books is to be a Christmas present as the person they are for was born in Yorkshire. The author comes highly recommended as being an extremely good writer who writes about the funny as well as the tragic parts of life.

I had read previous reviews extolling how great these books are, reader, they are true.
If you want to recover the fading childish memory of being gripped by a book then look no further.
You get a treasure trove of books for the price of one and you have the discovery of Barbara Pym to unravel. She is all that is light, wry and comforting. Barbara Pym's book capture a 50's world of faith, faithlessness and fickleness in a delicious cupcake for you to consume at your pleasure. Enjoy!

fantastic value for these lovely books about rural England and the people who inhabit it. Quirky characters abound in these gentle novels
