The soundtrack for itself is an amazing experience, but i strongly advise everyone to get the DVD first and carefully enjoy the music while watching the movie, since it has no speech or subtitles. Then get the CD and everytime you'll listen to it you'll remember the remarkable landscapes and astonishing scenarios you've seen in the movie. It's a CD to be better listened with your eyes shut, or in complete dark...

As good as you remember it being in the movie.

If you enjoyed the film Baraka and can't shake some of the images from your mind, this music will take you back to the film time and again with every listen. Really soothing and fun music to work to or to put your baby asleep to. (Just don't tell her about the chicken scene!) Better than I actually expected!

I watched the movie Baraka on its opening day back in 1993 and, as soon as the movie ended, I rushed to the record store to purchase its soundtrack.
This is one of those soundtracks in which each composition is integrated with the visual images projected on the screen. The melodies composed by the great Michael Stearns help weave together the other tracks by Dead Can Dance, Incuyo, etc.
I purchased this particular MP3 release because the original CD that I purchased did not contain the original first track Opening/Nepal Morning, one of my favorite pieces of music, very soothing and ethereal.

What a disappointment!
The only saving grace is the Bonus Track. The rest of the CD is boring.
I was hoping for the same sonic and composition quality as Michael Stearns "The Lost World".
Buy The Lost World! It is a sonic masterpiece...
