Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Japanese betting game Banzai is quite possibly one of the strangest things to ever grace British TV, from the hilarious antics of Mister Shake Hands Man, to the downright bizarre one-off bets (such as how many cans of coke does Shaun Ryder weigh?), this is post-pub TV at its best. The soundtrack reflects this admirably, containing probably one of the most varied track listings ever seen on a compilation CD. From Lalo Schifrin's "Enter the Dragon", which doubles as the title music, to tracks as disparate as Dr Hook's "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman" (from the hilarious "Dance of the Goths") to Add N to X's "Adding N to X", which serves as intro music to Mr Shake Hands Man. However fleeting their appearance on the show and therefore however tenuous their inclusion here, there's no denying the fact that this is a truly bizarre and ultimately highly enjoyable compilation. It could have done without Manhattan Transfer though. --Helen Marquis

Banzai is renowned for being hilariously funny but also for its excellent soundtrack. It features some classic tracks from the likes of music from 'enter the dragon' to the nice laid back beats created just for the show.

Not an amazing CD, but a nice one to kick back and listen to.

I had noticed that the background music to the wagers in Banzai was very much to my liking, and was often amusingly appropriate, so this CD intrigued me. It is a good collection too, incredibly varied and a great trip for aficionados of the show. The sleevenotes contain the name of the gamble associated with each song - an excellent touch.

My only disappointment was that no Rush tracks were included - "Jacob's Ladder" from (I think!) the granny shopping trolley challenge would have rounded the collection off nicely, but was perhaps excluded because of its length.
