CD Description

"Great tunes played with drive, dexterity and sensitivity by some of the finest English melodeon players around today. A landmark collection in the development of this wonderfully timeless instrument..." John Jones, Oysterband The English Melodeon is central to the Folk Scene – these players are just some of many hundreds who can make the instrument sing. In 1986 an album celebrated English Melodeon Players. Now this new 21st century CD reveals the amazing heights today's players can reach.

Great cd. Nearly all the tracks were unknown to me and all really catchy.
The players techniques are all exceptional.
Interesting notes on what type of box was played (from one-rows upwards).
Only downside I can think of is, some tracks have silly noises in the background (electronics or midi?)
Highlight of the cd is the last track with maestro John Kirkpatrick playing jigs at a very, very sedate dancing speed on a bog-standard Hohner Polkerwork. You don't need any souped-up, flashy box.
All my box-playing friends agree it is the best melodion cd of last year.
