Review

Much of Banksy's early work on the streets of Bristol has been lost, but this book records those works which appeared throughout the city. Author Steve Wright explores the streets of Banksy's Bristol and interviews many of the people who worked with Banksy in his early years. We believe this to be the most complete photographic collections of Banksy's Bristol work from the freehand wall paintings in Easton to the iconic Mild Mild West, his stencils and more. It contains more than 100 images. Five stars Marlon Rigel, Waterstone's.com For any fan of Banksy's work this beautifully produced book should become essential reading.A" britishhiphop.co.uk

Product Description

"Home Sweet Home" is a celebration of Banksy's street art in his home city of Bristol. This book places him in the context of 3D, John Nation from the Barton Hill Settlement, Inkie, Nick Walker and the other artists and musicians who were instrumental in linking Bristol to the original New York hip hop scene. It is the most revealing account of Banksy's formative years and contains more than one hundred images of his Bristol art, as well as pictures of Banksy at work, many of which have never been published before. Steve Wright, Venue magazine's "Art Editor", traces Banksy's roots back to the rave culture of the Nineties and draws a rounded picture of an artist who is most famous for being anonymous.

Really good 15 Jan 2008
Format:Hardcover
half-expecting some sort of cheap rip-off I was surprised to find that this book's really great. Lots of full-colour pictures of Banksy's best Bristol works and a few real gems of never-seen-before stuff. The text is pretty intelligent too, but it's the pictures that make it a must-have. Nice hardback coffee-table production values too, and very well priced.

Format:Hardcover
This is the perfect book if you're interested in where Banksy came from, with brilliant coverage of the environment he grew up in, the whole Bristol scene, and the other artists working around him. Great illustrations, but the text is must-read too. Beautifully produced - I would recommend this book to anyone interested in Banksy, graffiti, or Bristol.

Great book 3 May 2008
Format:Hardcover
This is brilliant, a must for any Bristolian who may remember seeing the work around Bristol before all the hype. If you aren't from Bristol, this book will show you lots of Banksy work that can't be seen anywhere else. Quality.

Art for Art's Sake
A coffee-table book about Banks's early work on the streets of Bristol. I don't know much about the hip-hop scene but I do know that blank city walls make for tedious viewing. Read more

All you ever wanted to know about Banksy!
Banksy is an enigma. I hope he remains so forever because it is part and parcel of his appeal, so I was a bit apprehensive about this book as I feared it would dispel the mystique... Read more

OK but not enough of anything
There are some interesting bits in this book, particularly the interviews which work well in the chaotic setting that seems to sum up Banksy and the Bristol scene. Read more

But is it Art?
And that's the question this book is going to put. Is Banksy's work 'art' or vandalism? To keep or not to keep? And many more as well. As a book, I thought it was excellent. Read more
