4.0 out of 5 stars Bankrolling Basra, 25 Jun 2007

The author is slightly arrogant - but much of what he says is spot on. The book throws a really good light on the difference between the British and American administration in Iraq. It also illuminates the weakness of the British government stance and attitude. Very well worth the read.

5.0 out of 5 stars At the sharp end, 1 Jun 2007
An extraordinary story, I read this book at a single sitting. As well as being a fascinating tale of initiative, improvisation and general derring-do, it gives some real insights into why the post-invasion phase went so badly wrong. Baghdad is a long way from London or Washington, and Basra a long way from Baghdad. If you have ever been involved in a field operation far away from headquarters, this book is for you! If you are in a headquarters, it's for you too....

1.0 out of 5 stars oneliners?, 28 Dec 2007
Read this in a couple of days its seems to be full on one line stories that have little continuity

There was no build up to anything dramatic just a book full of huge figures. I could have got the same feeling reading my companies annual finance report complete with all the interdeparmental in fighting
