4.0 out of 5 stars A good student text book! 19 Nov 2002
By A Customer
This book is one of the best banking law texts available, and is specifically designed to fit the syllabus Chartered Institute of Bankers' Papaer. Unlike some other text books such as Ellinger, this book totally focuses on the law relating to the UK.
Material in the book is backed by common law authority however I would recommend you to use this book alongside a banking law casebook and some cases are not discusses eloborately in the text. The book also looks into the modern banking practices very well and introduced all concepts very nicely and develops the arguements.
If you have no idea what the law realting to banks are, then this is a good place to start. You can read about the very basic elements and go on to read the analysis of the more complex banking practices.
Overall, its an excellent and upto date text book for those interested in banking law.

I have had the misfortune to have accessed many such books over a long career. Many are poorly written. This book is ideal for beginner and novice alike.
