The book is not all about laugh-out-loud comic writing. The Bank Robber Diaries also explores the darker side of criminal activity... and that's a pretty large canvas when hired hit men, murders in the woods and the ever-looming prospect of capture or death are thrown into the equation. Thus King's success in popularising, if not glorifying, his protagonists is brought to an abrupt halt at all the right moments. Danny King is a witty and insightful narrator well in tune with the mind of a criminal, likable or otherwise. The Bank Robber Diaries is by no means a book for the faint hearted but the dark humour, hilarious episodes and gripping action described so well here make for a captivating read. --David Thwaites

UTTERLY HILARIOUS!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Bank Robber Diaries (Paperback)
For anyone who's ever fantasised about being a "blagger", this is un-put-down-able. It's written in the same brilliantly funny way as King's first book The Burglar Diaries, but with a darker edge and some really exciting set-pieces. And don't worry that it might be more gangster-tosh in the same vein as the ever-more-boring Guy Ritchie -- it's the perfect antidote to that mockney rubbish, realistic and self-effacing. I can't wait for the next one.

Another King turnpager,
This review is from: The Bank Robber Diaries (Paperback)
The Bankrobber Diaries, the second in the 'Diaries' series is altogether darker then the first, but with equally fruity language but far more wanton violence. This is more black humour than laugh out loud, but as in the Burglar Diaries, there are some hillarious balls-ups in this one. The episode where two of the key characters use novel methods to beat the the TA-wannabee paintballing-pro's is pure class. Don't expect this to be as funny as the Burglar Diaries, but it is another fabulous Danny King page turner. Again, one gets the feeling that some of the material is not quite pure fiction.

Danny Kings way with words will have you rolling around, he has a twisted view on morality but you can't help but go along with it because of the quality writing, every time I finished a chapter i just had to go onto the next one. It's quite foul mouthed but given the character is a bank robber that's realistic. The action scenes are really exciting and well written and this would make a brilliant film.
