5.0 out of 5 stars Small and handy guide of Bangkok 23 Aug 2006
It has been since December 2005, that I have visited this busy and buzzing city of Bangkok. I needed a nice and easy guide which would pinpoint all the main attractions of Bangkok and the Lonely Planet offers me all the answers I needed to make the best out of my journey in Bangkok. It is a handy guide to have.

Bangkok (Lonely Planet) is a short and useful guide, complimented with pictures and brief text about particular attractions of Bangkok. It details all the hotels, restaurants, bars, museums and shops available in Bangkok. What more do you want? In addition, it offers advice on key matters, such as travellers cheques, culture, transport and banks. Make the best out of your journey in Bangkok by using this guide. What more do you want? Without it, you will lost in Bangkok, a big and buzzing city, where life is so interesting and colorful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good enough for a short Bangkok stay 18 Aug 2009
Enough detail for a short city stay and it was the most up to date travel guide I could find at the time we went. I always try for the most recently published guides as shops, restarants and travel details change so quickly. Nothing worse than travelling across town to find the site no longer opens that day!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good buy 11 Feb 2010
The book is good as a guide though details on accommodation and limited (the book points you to a website for more details). The inclusion of a large pullout map is a good idea.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good value for money 13 Feb 2012

Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This "Close Encounter" series are a good companion. I bought this one and the Koh Samui Close Encounter. The information and maps are indeed useful. Besides, the size is compact, so it may fit in one of your pockets. There is no problem in carrying it with you at all times during your trip. Also, you can rip off the Bangkok map and simply carry the city map. Good value for money.
