This is their best album to date, while the others are good, taking a while to get into, this is top notch. Love every track, lot of style variations, top track 'Sooner or Later'. Buy, relax, enjoy ;o)

UK's REM... only much better,

This review is from: Bang! (Audio CD)
I remember thinking when it came out that "World Party" were the UK's answer to REM... only much better. This and their previous album "Goodbye Jumbo", I would recommend as essential purchases. The influences, such as Dylan, Prince, Beatles and Stones are obvious. However the song writing and melodies and hooks, overcome these comparisons enough to produce really original albums. This is a grower of an album which stays in your memory, due largely to superb song writing. And of course "Is it like Today" is one of the greatest songs of the decade.

Bang!! Albeit fairly softly,

On this, the long-awaited follow up to the much acclaimed Goodbye Jumbo, Karl Wallinger not only continues to mine a particularly tunesome 60's style trough (if you can listen to Sunshine without hearing the Rolling Stones then I suggest you either extend your record collection or be sent to bed without supper)but explores soul funk and folk doffing his cap to both Troublefunk (Radio Days) and Prince (Rescue Me). Overall not as satisfying as Goodbye Jumbo but still well worth a listen if it's melodies to sing along to your after or simply something to put a smile on your face as you wait, frustratedly, for your eggs to boil.
