Product Description

Product Description

BeoPlay A3 is an iPad speaker frame that offers a brilliant sound experience. The stylish design is sculpted to blend perfectly with the iPad's minimal aesthetic, and the flexible shape adds to the user experience. Portable and easy to move, the A3 dock can be used anytime, anywhere. Suitable for iPad 1,2 and 3.

Enhance the iPad's sound performance, so you can really hear your music, films or TV series. BeoPlay A3 features Adaptive Stereo Orientation that changes the sound stage to suit the position of your iPad, whether it's in vertical or horizontal orientation, stood up or lying down. Three tweeters and bass are positioned in the corners to give an almost field sound experience for solo or group use.

Fit your iPad in the correct bumper, slot the iPad in BeoPlay A3 and you're ready to start. With no complex setup required, you only need to know how to use your iPad and you're good to go. The buttons on your iPad for standby, volume adjustment and battery indication are placed on the thin edge, ready to be used regardless of how the BeoPlay is placed.

Designed by Steffen Schmelling, the BeoPlay A3 is unlike traditional docking devices as it surrounds the iPad instead of just docking it. The sculptured shape adds to the versatility of the iPad. Every surface of the A3 is durable and comfortable to hold, plus it's finished with a decorative aluminium profile.

The Beoplay A3 is the perfect place to dock your iPad as it's so easy to move. Its rechargeable battery pack offers up to 7 hours of playback with normal use. Connect it to the mains and the power supply will charge both the iPad and BeoPlay A3.

If you download the 'Tango Remote' app onto your iPhone, and your iPad, you will be able to wirelessly control your iPad using your phone as a remote! Finding this out has dramatically improved user experience and makes the A3 similar to the much more expensive Zeppelin which comes with airplay! The app is £3 but well worth it :)

this is the best piece of equipment i have ever bought. The design is perfect, the Ipad is at one with the A3, the sound is awesome. Just wish it had a remote control as well

Having purchased the Beoplay A3 for my ipad2 I am delighted with the looks and sound, a typically different product from anything else available thanks to B&O's innovative design.

My only gripes are that it is a little unstable and would benefit from a fold out stand to aid stability, plus, at this price level it should come with a protective carry case.

The sound quality is extremely good and it looks fantastic despite its flaws.

Having said all this I would definitely recommend and hope a carry case is available soon.

If you set your timeout on the ipad then you do not have to remove it from the A3 to switch it off. Extremely useful.

    UPDATE 11/08/2013
The biggest flaw with this is it's instability. I have knocked it over quite a few times accidentally but luckily both it and the ipad are undamaged. Why B&O never incorporated a fold out stand on the rear is beyond understanding for a company with their pedigree. In view of this major design flaw I am downgrading my rating to 3 stars.

A stunning accessory for the iPad. It looks good, fits the iPad securely and the sound is as expected of a piece of B&O equipment.

Great sound as you would expect from a B & O product. The only thing that is disappointing is no access for headphones. For the price it is well worth the purchase

I'm really in to tech but I had t heard of this deck and it's now going to be phased out due to lightening connectors....anyway the local B and O shop demoed me one for £329 which was a big reduction on £499 the normal price it looks very svelte and typically good design features means that it can stand up horizontally or vertically for use or it rests on its back at a great angle for typing.
I ordered mine a black one for £119 yes that's right only £119 the white was £169 from Aviddes in Germany.
When it arrived well packed all signs were of a new device and I opened up and plugged it in.
There was one sheet of instructions and 4 books of licenses and guarantees .The instructions were inadequate and I had to go on line to discover that the significance of the light going off when charging meant that it was fully charged not that it had broken as I first thought ! It lights red then yellow as it charges.
When disconnected it acts normally to show that it's on or off.
You get 2 rubberised ipad surrounds either ipad 1 or ipad 2and 3 with these in place the ipad slips very snugly into the unit and there is a locking slider on the rear to put the 30 pin connector into the ipad and hold it in situ.Be careful to check that this slider is right across otherwise the connection won't be made.
Playing it uses the ipad screen but the volume controls are on the unit.
So with the ipad docked you can hold the unit as a sort of souled up ipad and for looking at TV movies photos use it horizontally or flip it for documents and books.
When it's docked you can't use the rear camera or access any of the iPads own side controls

Great product, at unbelievable price, and arrived within a couple of days. You just can't beat the quality of this speaker system compared with products twice the price!
