Frankie Goes To Hollywood was one of the very best bands of the 1980s. The band only released a couple of albums, then it split... but its music still lives on, or rather has been revived with a BANG! release, and this is well-deserved. So even though Frankie Say... No More, Frankie still say a lot!

This compilation contains the best track of the outstanding concept album 'Welcome To The Pleasuredome', such as the debut hit single 'Relax' (regarded controversial back then!), the absolutely great 'Two Tribes', the breathtakingly beautiful ballad 'The Power Of Love', and an interesting and varied version of 'Ferry Cross The Mersey'. Plus stuff from the less impressive 'Liverpool' album, like 'Rage Hard', but sadly not including the wonderful 'Is Anybody Out There?'.

The listener also has to live with more mediocre songs like 'Warriors Of The Wasteland' or 'For Heaven's Sake'; both unmistakably Frankie but not really top quality. Still, as a whole, this compilation album makes you rock and think about the rocking 1980s. It's a great memory.

The CD booklet which accompanies the compilation is also very interesting: Frankie's history and nice pictures.

By Mr. L. C. Button VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD
The "Frankie" sound was unique and unforgettable. Unfortunately the controversy that followed the band distracted people from the quality of the music. Holly Johnson's gifts as a singer and song writer combined with Trevor Horn's production skills created some of the best contemporary pop music ever. This compilation includes "Relax" - their first of three number one singles - and a record that went on to sell millions all over the world. The original version of "Two Tribes" is a track that almost defies description. With a completely unique combination of orchestra, rock guitar and a relentless bass riff this must be the most powerful popular music record ever. The raw emotion and poignancy of "The power of love" gave the band their final number one single and the extended album version of "welcome to the pleasure dome" confirmed the "Frankie" sound as dynamic and truly definitive. Tracks from the "Liverpool" album are on this compilation but with the more mundane rock sound of "Rage Hard" and "Warriors of the waste Land" their music lost its excitement. But the proof that the early "Frankie" records are all time classics is in the fact that they are still being reworked by D.J.'s for a younger audience. Unfortunately, this compilation does not include the latest trance versions of the early singles but this compilation does full justice to a band that added a new energy and dynamism into pop culture.

Relight the Frankie experience, wind it up and spank your speakers!

It still rocks and kicks.
