Family's last two recorded albums - I enjoyed hearing Bandstand again, but It's Only a Movie seems like a need to fulfil a contract - I just don't get it! Still, if only for Bandstand the price is good value.

What a fantastic vision hindsight turns out to be. I now realise I was more than blessed to see family twice within a year at around the time of my 17th, 1973, and they were truly truly awesome. Such inspired songwriting, from immense drive and power to the most sublime joyous delicate ballads, this band could touch parts of your brain and soul that are just never reached. Just an absolutely sensational live band-Chapman could blow away any other vocalist before and very definitely since. Family obviously had an extremely loyal following and yet, for reasons that are a mystery to me (can Roger or someone write the book?)they just never reached anything like the success they deserved. Were they deemed not commercial enough? Was anyone listening? Incredible they have finally received some recognition at long last and so justly deserved. Here, then, is an opportunity for those who want a reminder, or missed it all first time round, to enjoy one of the finest albums ever made, Bandstand, and a very decent parting gift of an album, Its Only a Movie, from, seriously, one of THE best prog rock bands of all time. But get all the albums. you will not be disappointed. Enjoy enjoy enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars The British "doors"? 16 July 2013

Classic British psychedelia. Hugely underrated band. And this was their finest hour.
Amazing musicians. Great tunes which weren't self indulgent guitar solos like many of the bands then !!
Roger chapman had a strange voice like a screaming sheep on acid !
Takes me back to the early. 70s! Try it. It's not dated like so many from that era
