5.0 out of 5 stars No-one should attempt lunchtime conversation without it. 24 Aug 1999

Covering a wide range of popular misconceptions, this book is a revelation to the aspiring trivia gatherer. As each myth is dispelled, a new wave of clarity washes over the ecstatic reader. It is one of the great tragedies of our day that such works of literature have gone out of print. Schools would do well to add it to their reading lists and no good coffee table should be without it.

I agree with the other reviewer. I ordered this book from a catalog when I was in elementary school around '79 or '80. Do they still distribute those catalogs to kids annually?

Anyway, great book with excellent explanations to MANY popular misconceptions. You will be amazed to find out that many things you think ar *so* are *not*.

A must have...
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book! 5 Jan 2014

We bought this book because my husband read it when he was a tween. Now that our children are heading to that age, he thought it would be good to read to them. Our kids, ages 8 & 6, are enjoying it. It is an older book, so some of the information is outdated. Most is not though.

Shipped quickly.. Thank you!
