I was really pleased to find that Bananaman stands the test of time: it is as good as I remember from my childhood. Even better is the fact that my daughter, nephew and various other friends' children enjoy it too.

Go on, indulge yourself in some retro cartoon fun, you won't be disappointed: it's brilliant!

When I told a banana-loving kiddy recently that when I was young there was a TV programme called Bananaman they did not believe me. Hence the perfect excuse to go and buy the complete collection of Bananaman on DVD ... I had to prove it you see!
I have now ignited a passion for Bananaman - nay an obsession - in a new generation! If you loved Bananaman in your youth and remember watching just bursting to find out what sort of adventure and trouble the hero and his sidekick Crow would be having this is the purchase for you. It's also quite a good way to encourage banana eating in little ones who are not particularly fond of them. I mean who wouldn't want super banana induced strength...if only they had given Bananaman super brains too!
I'm now on the lookout for other DVD collections of kid's programmes from the past!
Ahh....memories...

As a kid I loved Bananaman - short on brains but making up for it with banana strength and courage, he was my type of hero. Getting into all sorts of scrapes set by a cast of villains to rival Batman at its campiest, and muddling his way through with the help of his friend Crow and the cheesiest of cheesy grins, topped with the unforgettable theme tune, it was required viewing in our school.

All 40 five minute episodes are presented here. There has been no remastering, and the picture quality is sometimes a little ropey, but the essential humour (and the voices of those three national treasures The Goodies) comes shining through still. Aside from the massive rush of nostalgia I get from watching it, it also still appeals to young children of today.

The poor picture quality did at times detract from my viewing pleasure, so I'm only going to award 4 stars for this release. The content is definitely 5 stars all the way though. Recommended for all those who want a nostalgia rush, or who have some young children that they need to keep quiet!

I nearly shed a solitary tear when I saw this dvd on amazon. I HAD to buy it straight away and I'm glad I did. It really does throw you back to your childhood (If you watched this as a child obviously). The only bad thing is that now whenever I see anybody eating a banana I can't help but launch into the theme tune, but thats a small price to pay.

Early 1980s cartoon silliness, driven by the voices of The Goodies. Each five minute episode is a chaotic mini-action movie, and a trip down memory lane for people of my age (cough).

There are some good jokes in there, but it's strictly for kids and all seems a bit dated now. As a parody of the superhero genre it still stands up though.

The animation is great in parts, but quite ropey in others, it was obviously done on a budget. The film transfer is OK but not fantastic- there's quite a lot of dust on the print and at one point you can even see the edge of the reel as it slips out of alignment... oops.

Nostaglic and silly fun, but one of those things that doesn't quite seem as good now as it did when you were a kid.

Ah, the days I used to rush home from school to catch Bananaman on telly as my mum made my tea (findus crispy pancake or something) in the kitchen. My pals at the time would all do the same. Nice, safe, simple days now gone. I don't know how this DVD set ended up in my house, but I have it, and my daughter loves it! And watching it now, with her, the animation does look a bit crap; the 5 minute story lines p ss-poor. But it's innocent, charming fun - voiced by The Goodies! I used to own a copy of the Bananaman 1985 annual, in which the drawings were way better than those rendered for the animation. Anyway, I digress - a good nostalgic purchase for yourself that you can pass off as a present for the kids!

Still as good as I remember it to be and if you love the goodies you'll love this. Excellent!
