Bamix forever! 15 Jun 2010
I know this Bamix is great and worth every penny because I don't have to think about it, just use it. It is a reliable little workhorse that sits on the counter, in the stand ready for use, with all the blades to hand. The construction is sturdy: I have burnt out and had metal fatigue with countless other stick blenders - not all of them cheap!

I am no great fan of Gordon Ramsey, I don't want the foul language: I only choose this model because it was the best value - thankfully the DVD is cursing free and has some good ideas and demonstrations especially for the less confident. The free inclusive cookery book is excellent with many simple recipes that have helped revive my interest in food. After cooking for over 50 years (I started at 2 lol) my enthusiasm and imagination was a little jaded.

My Bamix is used at least 3 or 4 times every day, its comfortable to hold,(I have small hands easy to clean, does the job, makes fantastic mayo (better than Hellmans) at a fraction of the cost and I use organic freerange ingredients where possible. The very best thing about the Bamix that puts it streets ahead of the rest is that it is SO QUIET in use.

add ons 20 Oct 2010

I recently purchased this item, and it works very well. I love it for makign smoothies out of skimmed milk, it does need to be skimmed.

Its expensive but it will last for a very long time and is certainly of robust constitution.

The mill is a dry mill, however from scoutting around other websites it appears that there is very little point in upgrading to a wet dry mill until you have worn out the dry mill. You can use liquid in the dry mill but it might leak a wee bit, so no benefit until you need to upgrade. I'd consider adding in the slicity thing, however at 50 odd quid its significantly more expensive than other food processors - so in two minds, if I end up buying it, it will be to increase space in the cupboard. The only thing I'm considering buyign right now is a larger jug, which I will cost and see if I can jsut get a measuring jug instead.

I'm impressed with the way it does mayo and hollandase, both notorious for difficult to do.

Bamix is easy to wash and is very versitile, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable leaving it lying about if there was small children in the house,

Lisa

Works well 14 July 2010
By Jet Lee
I wasn't sure whether this was a 160W bamix (since it was £20 cheaper than the Gordon Ramsay titan bamix), but having received it, it was indeed a Gordon Ramsay branded bamix at 180W with the 10 year guaranteed. Unfortunately, the DVD and recipe book were missing, so Amazon had to send me another one. This was quite troublesome for me, as I then had to return a parcel back.

Overall though, this works really well, and I enjoy using it (for smoothies, chopping veggies etc.). I wouldn't recommend using for large vegetables (you'd need to dice it beforehand). Generally it's a very handy tool, and should last the 10 years, as long as it is maintained and looked after. Bamix provide maintenance advice, e.g. to oil it occasionally (but with a special oil possibly 3-in-one), and to use pinchers to tighten fittings if it loosens over time.

I would recommend always to remove the attachments before washing under the tap, to ensure all the blended food is washed off.

Hopefully it will last for many years to come - I'm impressed that some people on the internet had said they'd had theirs for over 30 years - hopefully they were true comments.
