5.0 out of 5 stars The best hand blender - expensive but worth it 24 July 2009
Colour Name:Silver|Verified Purchase
My mother bought a Bamix in 1969 and still uses it virtually every day. I've had several cheaper mixers (Braun etc) but none of them have the power and quality of the Bamix so I finally stumped up the extra money and bought this.

The plastic stand is too lightweight for worktop use and does let it down somewhat, but its OK when screwed to the wall via the mounting holes provided. Its very easy to clean and the specialist tools for beating/whipping work amazingly once you get the knack of creating a vortex - tip: practice with some water!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is worth every single penny! 9 Mar 2010
Colour Name:Black
I can honestly say that this is the best item I have EVER purchased to use in the kitchen.

I have used cheaper brands and models but they splash everywhere, they are noisy and use alot of electricity compared with the Bamix. This little machine fits into the palm of your hand perfectly and the buttons are very easy to use. I also like the way that each attachment fits onto the bottom, the booklet also tell you how to tighten these if they become loose after a time.

My Bamix has been used to make soup, mayonaise, milkshakes etc. This can also turn skimmed milk into a cream texture which is totally amazing, the colder the milk the better so I just put it into the freezer for 20 to 30 minutes prior to whipping it up. I also add fruit or coffee into the skimmed milk which makes a lovely dessert.

This also comes with a grinding mill which turns sugar into icing sugar, it really is that good!

The only downside is the limited recipe book, but if you hunt on the internet you will find a Bamix cookbook which contains over 150 recipes. I am afraid that Amazon do not sell this book at present but if you search the internet auction sites then you should find it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spend a bit more and get this. 25 Aug 2010
By Mrs. Z. L. Reynolds VINE VOICE
Colour Name:Red Metallic
You won't regret your purchase if you choose to buy the Bamix, it can do a lot more than the cheaper ones. Don't be fooled into thinking that more accessories equals more functions, this gadget does the lot with only 3 tiny blades, a small grinder and a stand. I have replaced my food processor, blender. grinder and hand mixer with all the attachments for each- a whole cupboard full of tat- with this one simple, powerful and versatile tool which sits neatly and handily on the kitchen side. Having a very small kitchen with limited storage, it's worth the money just to gain a whole cupboard back!

This mixer will make hummus of any thickness which would certainly burn out the motor on most cheaper ones, even those with a high wattage, this one at a measly 160 watts is powerful enough to mush beans as well as being a lot faster than most mixers/ blenders and the lower wattage saves energy as well. The grinder is excellent on it, I have used it for spices and flax seeds and it does a great job, especially as you can easily shake the stuff you're grinding as the whole thing is so small, my old grinder was about the same capacity, but stood on top of a large food processor base it was a bit of a game to shake it! It also makes excellent smooth batter, froths milk (even soya milk) and blends soups in the pan and has a thousand other uses.

The only thing it doesn't do that a food processor does is grating and slicing but there is an attachment, the 'Slicesy', which you can buy separately if you need it.

The very best thing about this is that you can use it in the mixing bowl, the pan, the beaker you are already using and there is hardly any washing up.

5.0 out of 5 stars You pays your money... 16 Nov 2009
Colour Name:Silver
As others have pointed out, this unit is a perfect example of why paying out for quality engineering is worth it in the long run rather than a string of cheaper units that break and never perform to the same standard anyway. I've had mine for about a year and I use it so often that it stays out on the worktop on its handy stand. I use it for everything from soup to chopping nuts to creating pastes when making curry. The book that came with it has been very useful as well.

It's one of the few kitchen gadgets that truly lives up to its promises and works so well. It fits perfectly in either hand and the two speeds are all you need for any application.

If you can't afford it just yet, do the old fashioned thing and save up to buy it. It's be worth the wait.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Efficient and well made blender 30 Oct 2009
Colour Name:Silver
I bought my Bamix in 1970 and have used it regularly since that date in my soup making.
It eventually burned itself out last year - 39 years later - and since then I have been debating as to whether the new ones are made the same. I decided to buy a cheap "make do" and it is rubbish.
That's why I am now purchasing my second Bamix. A must for every cook and kitchen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Built to last professional quality 11 Mar 2010
Colour Name:Red Metallic
Length: 0:49 Mins
There's no doubt that this is a very good-looking blender in sparkle-red and stainless steel and it performs as good as it looks.
In 1977, when we married, my wife had a Bamix which she used up until about 5 years ago when she decided that although it still worked the powder-blue and cream finish looked dated, since when we've had 2 blenders which have fallen by the way-side. The Bamix is not cheap and is certainly a considered investment.
This version comes with 3 attachments and a dry-mill. The attachments fit into the stand, which has room for 4. The stand is best attached to the wall as the Bamix is quite heavy.
You get a multilingual instruction leaflets and a recipe book. This version comes with a straight mains cord.
You get a whisk attachment, which is great for shakes and sauces, a mincer, great for chopping raw and cooked vegetables, and a beater, great for whipping up soups and sauces. Attachments are relatively easy to fit and remove.
In the video I've tried to show that although this is a big substantial blender, it is very comfortable to hold and the 2 speed buttons are conveniently located under your fingers. It's quiet to use and has a nice business-like hum to it.
The dry-mill is genuinely useful, as you can see I made some breadcrumbs!
Hopefully, judging by our last Bamix, I won't be buying another blender in the next few years!
