Product Description

Bamako Nights captures the incendiary genius of Lobi Traore, a soulful singer/songwriter and blazing electric guitarist of Mali, who died too young - just 49 years old - in 2010. Bamako Nights offers the deepest and most intimate record of this artist's astounding power on stage in a small Bamako nightclub.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bamako Nights 15 Dec 2013
By Mr. A. G. Liddle VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
A live recording of the late, great Lobi Traore from 1995. The sound quality is raw but immediate and perfectly captures the electric blues of this sorely missed Malian guitar virtuoso. The excitement of these recordings is palpable and vital. Rarely has a live album catapulted me into (what I imagine to be)the experience of a small and sweaty nightclub in Bamako. Intoxicating!

Lobi Traore seems to cross between delicate, acoustic, traditional Malian music and full on, Crazy Horse style, amped-up desert blues. Check this out and then track down as many recordings as you can of this under-appreciated artist. You will not regret it.
