Having a cruise booked to the Baltics was the start. As cruises offer precious time in ports to see the sites it is easy to opt for the more expensive curise aranged tours that can easliy lead to a "I could have done that myself if only I knew". Looking for a Baltics guide leaves very little choice and a previous entrant into the reviews of this book didnt fill me with the will to spend my money. However, as I said very little choice so I decided to plump for this and take my chances. How glad I am that I did!!
The book covers, Sweden (Stockholm), Finland (Helsinki), Russia (St Peterburg) Estonia (Talinn), Poland (Gdansk and Gdynia)Germany (several ports) Norway (Oslo) and Denmark (Copenhagen) with chapters on each port and maps including a walking tour given in a step by step guide. On each walk the guide tells you where to stop and what you are looking at. Now, I couldnt give a monkeys about the spelling of a gooses name but if you want - where to shop, what to see, what currency is accepted, where to get tours for yourself (as in a water tour under the bridges of Stockholm) etc. Then this is for you. If you want to get the correct spelling of birds then I suggest there may be better books on the market.
