Complete first series of the popular BBC comedy drama, based around an English priest in a small Irish community under the control of a devious entrepreneur. In 'Trying to Connect You', Father Clifford (Stephen Tompkinson) arrives in the village and has to deal with a young woman who wants advice on what it'll be like to live with her fiancé once they are married. In 'The Things We Do For Love', Clifford gets involved with local accusations about toxic fertiliser. In 'Live in My Heart and Pay No Rent', Niamh's (Tina Kellegher) fiancé decides at the last minute that he should become a priest, and Father Clifford has to talk him out of it and convince him to go on with the wedding. In 'Fallen Angel', a new pirate radio station starts operating in the village. In 'The Power and the Glory', a local MP dies, and Quigley (Tony Doyle) begins campaigning. Finally, in 'Missing You Already', Assumpta (Dervla Kirwan) learns that Father Clifford may be sent back to England.

A cracking old fashioned entertainment. Although not that old this is a series to enjoy. Why do the presentday writers have to use the worst possible language when this series shows it's not a requirement. Great characters, great acting and magic locations. A pure joy.
I absolutely loved this show, and could not believed it when it was axed. Finally they are bringing out the dvds, and this is definitly worth buying. It contains the entire first series, and watching it, I'd forgotten how funny this show was. I'd recommend this to anyone, whether you watched it on TV or not.
Ballykissangel is food for the soul. Watching an episode from this delightful television series is like taking a vacation without having to leave the comfort of your home. Set in an idyllic little Irish village tucked away in the middle of no-where - it is here that the good folks of Ballykissangel go about their business. Unfortunately, their business is generally everyone else's business too and so keeping secrets in Ballykissangel can be a trifle tricky. A new priest comes to this little town and has rather different ideas on how to do things which naturally ruffles a few feathers while for others, it's like a breath of fresh air. Wo Sit back with your cuppa Wonderful characters with very enjoyable story lines. Sit back with your cuppa and enjoy!
I honestly couldn't recommend a TV series more highly. Ballykissangel does what most TV programmes can't and keep the viewer hooked - without all of the unnecessary violence, language and generally horrible things! I've never found another series like it, and it's by far my favourite.
A series with humor and profundity, just the way life is. Good actors, beautiful landscapes and funny stories. This DVD contains the wonderful and special episode in which Peter has to take his driver's test and plays chess with an old man in a retirement home. Maybe the best episode of the whole series. Lovely scenes in the confessional in almost every episode.
