I found this guide to dancing clear to understand and enjoyable to watch and copy. It blended sound technical points with charismatic personalities. I would recommend this, as a fun, sure way of learning correct style above others I have seen.

This DVD starts with good sound advice for health and safety, warning that dancing is indeed an excellent exercise, and a warm up routine launches this DVD. Angela's excellent presentation style and infectious enthusiam, together with Dance Champion Ian Waite's expertise, takes us through the basic steps for the waltz; quickstep;cha cha cha;tango and jive. It's a good idea to play a little music to hear the rythm first of each dance, but my only criticism is that Angella talks excitedly over it so we can't actually benefit from this! The steps are clearly explained and repeated, slowly then with the music. I did find it difficult to translate words like "twiddly bits" to my French husband as I had had that the DVD would have sub titles in French

At that price it is good value for money, but having just watched another instructional DVD on Salsa, I must say this one seemed a bit messy (though the language stilted) and not half so clear and precise as the 'Anyone can Dance - Salsa' I am comparing it with. However, the DVD does cover several dances and if you haven't got a better one to compare it with, then it would seem just fine.

This is very well presented but does not make good use of the dvd media. You cannot select the individual scenes so have to fast forward through the bits you do not want to see. This dvd only gives a few steps for each dance so is lacking in content for anyone but a raw beginner. It gives you the basic plus a couple of other steps for each dance. Most of the instruction is clear , Ian is very good and Angela's comments were also helpful. My wife and I had just started to dance and managed to learn all the steps in a few sessions became bored with it and havent watched it since. So I would only recommend it if you are a beginner and can get it on offer.

My wife and I have recently started dancing lessons and thought we would like to supplement that with some dance instruction DVD's. This is the best of the 3 we purchased in that the presentation by Angela and Ian is very good. However, I am extrememly frustrated that it is not divided into chapters which mean you can't go straight to the dance you want. To see the jive for instance you have to play through the whole video as it's the last dance. I'm sure there must be a way with my dvd control but I haven't found it yet!

We purchased this DVD to help us to learn some basic ballroom dance steps for a dinner & dance. Angela Rippon is very enthusiastic, giving clear and concise instruction. Great for people like us who have absolutely no ballroom dancing knowledge or experience. A good starting point for a one off occasion (like ours) or if you just want to have some fun at home ballroom dancing! Great value.

This DVD starts with the basics. Angela Rippon explains that the DVD is intended for people who have limited space, so there is an awareness of that in the instructions. It is step by step from the beginning, so anyone who already knows their way round a waltz, tango, cha cha cha & jive will probably find this too easy. For complete novices it is ideal as it builds confidence and ensures that everyone can get out onto the dance floor
