Product Description

Review

"'Whatever your discipline or level of expertise, whether riding in your backyard or striving for Olympic gold, Balance in Movement has something for you.' (Horse Show magazine)"

Product Description

The art of successful riding is the development of harmony between horse and rider to such an extent that, to the onlooker, they perform in total unity. The key to achieving this ideal is for the rider to maintain a seat which is capable of making finely tuned movements that both communicate and remain in perfect balance with the horse. In "Balance in Movement" Susanne von Dietze explains the anatomical requirements that are crucial for establishing the perfect seat, and describes how riders can control their movements in a precise but effortless way. Already established as a classic work on the seat of the rider, "Balance in Movement" has now been completely revised and extended by the addition of more advice, maxims and exercise ideas, as well as 200 new photographs and illustrations providing riders of all levels with an essential and highly practical guide to acquiring a perfectly balanced seat.

The idea that balance is all about movement, even when we are apparently still was a lightbulb moment. The book is so good that I read it over and over. Susanne explains the biomechanics of the rider so well that with the book successful schooling by Blignaught these have become my reference library.

A Must Have Book! 14 May 2002
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
This is an incredible book and a must have for beginners to advanced riders and trainers alike. It deals with the riders position and how this influence's the horse underneath them. It details the human anatomy in easy to understand diagrams, and how the skeletal frame and muscles interact with each other and how this effect's the rider's position. The book contains many colour photographs and diagrams illustating correct and incorrect rider positions during flatwork, dressage and showjumping exercises and the subsequent effect that this has on the way the horse is going.
It is an eye opening book and has certainly made me understand why i was having certain problems and has helped me to address them and move on to the next level
