An excellent start 15 Mar 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
The Balance of Four drops you straight into the middle of a world shared by dragons and humans. It follows the path of Tafari, who has the unique power of a dragon speaker. However, dark powers are very interested by this boy and his power and will go to great lengths to find him. Embarking on a long quest to awake the four primal elemental dragons, Tafari faces danger and begins unveiling a darker secret around his past, and the past of the world.

A great novel with some truly beautiful scenes (as well as some gritty ones!) which bring the world to life.
As the first installment in a promising trilogy, I await the next book eagerly.

This story takes place in a troubled world where humans coexist with dragons and a vengeful tyrant seeks to reign over both. The novel focuses on a boy possessing a powerful and alienating gift, struggling to find the four Element Dragons, which he hopes will restore order to the world.

One of the most memorable things about this book for me was the sense of immersion; the unique way it draws you into a world populated by dragons who are both regal and yet also very genuine characters.

In the rest of the trilogy I hope to see more of the Element Dragons, and a bit more about the various cities across the land.

Dragons 7 Mar 2012
By MJ
Format:Kindle Edition
I am not a huge fantasy reader, I have only read a handful of books in this genre but even I found the plot quite predictable, nothing surprised me, I had already expected the majority of things that happened to happen. The connection between Oadir, Tafari and Choral was obvious from the off. That said it was still an engaging story line with an interesting ensemble of characters. The way the dragons were portrayed gave them almost human characteristics and some were shown to value human life, fighting to protect them even against their own species.

Overall this is a well written book the writer paid a lot of attention to detail describing scenes in a very visual way. I enjoyed the way Rebecca demonstrated with description rather than told us what the characters were thinking and feeling. The pace is steady from start to finish and it is a `comfortable' read with natural flowing dialogue. The ending leaves us to believe there is at least one more book to follow and I am interested enough to keep an eye out for it and add it to my `to be read' list.
