Product Description

Average student Moritaka Mashiro enjoys drawing for fun. When his classmate and aspiring writer Akito Takagi discovers his talent, he begs Moritaka to team up with him as a manga-creating duo. But what exactly does it take to make it in the manga-publishing world? Moritaka is hesitant to seriously consider Akito's proposal because he knows how difficult reaching the professional level can be. Still, encouragement from persistent Akito and motivation from his crush push Moritaka to test his limits!

PURE ART ! 5 Feb 2011
By B. Joan
Format:Paperback
"Bakuman is a pretty unique story. I've never read or heard of any other story like it."

Bakuman is a romance/comedy/shonen manga about mangaka. It is original because it shows the life of the people who create manga. This isn't just a manga, it is pure art. This manga has a good story and amazing art.

Some Good Elements 24 Nov 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Although it does have some good elements (Mashiro's uncle being one of them), in my view Bakuman is neither as well written nor as well drawn as Hikaru No Go - a manga which, in some senses, it seeks to emulate. However, it is certainly better written than either Ral and Grad or the commercially very successful Death Note.

One of the curious things about volume one of Bakuman is that in the first half of the manga the writer shows himself to have quite a highly developed sense of humour, but this quality is almost completely absent from the second half. It is as though the editor stepped in and told him to remove it.
