Though it may look and feel like a plastic or rubber, silicone actually has more in common with glass - the backbone of the compound is silica, or sand, with other stuff added in. According to the precise mix of that other stuff, the final product can be a liquid, a gel or a solid. Whichever, it is a totally inert compound, and so will not 'react' in any way with your food.
Silicone bakeware is oven proof, microwave safe, freezer proof and dishwasher safe. Silicone baking moulds can be transferred directly from freezer to oven or microwave.
Food grade silicone bakeware will not rust, crack, melt, dent, peel or warp.
Silicone baking equipment is non-porous so it will not retain flavours or odours to taint your next dish.

Just recently brought this and wow , why did I wait so long , its great and at a price that is great to. parchment paper is okay but this has opened new ideas to me such as a coconut veil made with agar agar , which cant go on cling film, (as it reacts) and stuck a little to parchment paper.

These are excellent value for money , clean well and saves hrs of scrubbing!, does smell a bit funny when first used but that soon goes

ideal for cookies
i use this mat for cookies and other baked goods that tend to break if moved of the baking tray too soon. I use two, one in the oven whilst the other is cooling.
