One thing that isn't clear from the description of this book, and the lack of a back cover picture, is that it is endorsed by none other than Jon Pertwee, BBC TV's Dr. Who. This adds authenticity and authority to the product - although it has led to lengthy discussions amongst Dr. Who fans about whether this forms part of the Dr. Who "canon". It is now known universally as The Jon Pertwee Recipe book.

Many Dr Who fans recite the words assigned to Pertwee on the back cover daily whilst looking at THAT picture of Jo Grant and a Dalek, hand on heart and a tear in their eye.

"MEN MAY GO SHOOTING OFF TO OUTER SPACE BUT IT'S REALLY THEIR INNER SPACE THAT MATTERS MOST. I'M SURE I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO LIKES TO BE ADVENTUROUS AT MEALTIMES. WHEN THE MEAL I'M EATING IS HOME COOKED, BUT DOESN'T COST THE EARTH, THEN I KNOW I'M GETTING THE BEST OF ALL WORLDS."

I was skeptical about this recipe book when I first heard about it. How can a man get the best of all worlds and prepare a meal that doesn't cost the Earth? Well, this book not only fills my innerspace, but it's opened my eyes to the wonder's Jon Pertwee, Noodle Doodle, and hardened recptacle oil. Do you want a piece of this? Do you?

Yes, you definitely do. The recipes are all delicious (especially the ones for Roberto the Turkey and the Tiny Plate of Peas). Big Brown Hands and Mrs Mills' knees-ups abound. While I thought I was merely getting a recipe book endorsed by Dr Who himself (Jon Pertwee, y'all -- none of them Bakerfakers, what I've discovered is the solution to all of life's problems. Where I used to wonder "What nonsense is this?" I now begin to see.

Please buy this book. It's definitely canon.

What many commoners fail to understand when they purchase this book is it's cultural significance. Fortunately I have this opportunity to write this review to enlighten you. As others may have mentioned, this little cook book carries an endorsement from Jon Pertwee. I believe this is ultra-important as this was done in 1973, during his Golden Age of Doctor Who. This is not some 'Tennant starring in a show' or 'Piper takes clothes off in new series' attempt to keep relevant. This was Mr Doctor Who himself winking at you and telling you that this cookbook is Ace!! (Blame McCoy for that - you should never experiment on your companions) A flick through this book will reveal amazing recipes such as Tattee 'Oggie, Braised Hearts, Pensioner's Casserole and Tripe Casserole. Additionally, there are coupons in the book, which are really useful if you time travel back to 1974. THIS BOOK IS INCREDIBLE. THIS BOOK IS AMAZING. THIS BOOK IS ENDORSED BY JON PERTWEE. Why buy dirty magazines featuring ladies without clothing when you can spend your money on this super book instead? (That's right Garr. No more Mayfair for you! ;) )

A fantastic recipe book for all occasions. Put on your Mrs Mills LP, grab a random assortment of ingredients and go shooting off to the kitchen with Mr Pertwee. You won't regret it.
