Product Description

This is a russian high quality military binoculars Baigish 10x42 BPO which is manufactured by company KOMZ.

"B" stands for binocular, "P" for Porro prism, and "O" stands "with the increased removal of a target pupil for the people wearing glasses, and for possibility to put on a gas mask".

The binoculars BPO series have the metallic, hermetically scaled rubberized body, that reliably protecting the devices from a penetration of water and dust, and also from damage of the objective lens while casual impacts and vibration.

The binoculars has a sophisticated 7-lens eyepiece construction, company KOMZ uses Carl Zeiss (east) lenses.

Owing to the large exit pupil clearance (21 mm) and single-eye focusing the binoculars are special appropiate for glass wearer. The prism binoculars are very good for observation of objects in far distances and over huge terrains in the day time. They are absolutely perfect at dawn and in bad weather conditions, due to their specially enlightened prizm scheme and famous for their non-narrowing field of vision, resulting in a distinct and contrasting picture.

I bought these about 12 years ago from a different supplier and cannot praise them highly enough. I have a pair of Leitz binoculars of the same magnification for comparison. The Baigish are ugly and not so fast to focus and the colours are marginally less accurate. They do not focus as closely as the Leitz, which is hardly surprising considering the functions for which they were designed. However there is absolutely NO Barrel distortion and no curving of straight lines at the edges on the BPO. Also, once each eyepieces is focused they seem to need little refocusing. If you were using them for observation over a long period, you would not find them tiring to the eyes. There is a wonderful sense of "sharpness" as you view. The eyepieces focus smoothly and are the reason why these are so good. I don't think that they would be fast enough for bird watching , but for low light work or general observation or perhaps hunting they cannot be bettered. I don't think any buyer would be disappointed, unless they were looking for something "chic"--these are not--instead they are tough , reliable and optically superb
