Cut above the rest 3 Feb 2012
The importance of a well balanced hand axe cannot be stressed too strongly, and this model is just that, with a well balanced axe the user has complete control over the motion when splitting timber, where as a heavier axe tends to become out of control during the swing.

Bought as a project to make a decent looking bushcraft axe and I have to say it was the perfect base model. Love the blade shape, although mine wasn't that sharp when it arrived it takes the stone well and now has a great edge. I stripped all the paint off both the blade and the shaft, which I think now adds a lot to its look, although mine had an orange head and handle not the black head as shown in the picture. I felt the shaft needed stripping anyway as I found it way too slippy as it was, then linseed oiled the handle and partially wrapped it with camo paracord. I just need to finish polishing the head to a mirror finish and it will be finished. I would recommend this axe for basic work, but modify it and it becomes a fantastic bushcrafting axe.

Excellent Axe
First of all, I must say that I am impressed with this product. This is one of the better axes I have handled, HOWEVER, as the axe comes, the grind on it is not very good. Read more

Love it, good weight, keen edge and easily identifiable.
I love this axe, I used straight out of the proverbial box and was impressed by how sharp it was. However, with a good sharpen, this axe comes into its own. Read more

Great tool
Lovely item - could do without all the orange on handle and head - but it helps when covered in debris from trees. Have used this extensively for lopping and splitting wood. Read more
