Product Description

For over a century, Bag Balm® has been a fixture around farms. It all started in 1899, after John L. Norris bought the formula for Bag Balm from its original creator in the little town of Wells River, Vermont. The salve was created to soften cow udders, and it worked extremely well. The little green can stood out from the rest. Bag Balm’s “packaging” (practically an unheard of marketing term in those days) would prove to stand the test of time with as much distinction as the product itself. Mr. Norris traveled from Lyndonville, Vermont to Boston to design the original can. Its distinctive, dominant green color accented by red lettering and red clover surrounding a cow’s head on the top of the lid has remained virtually unchanged for over 100 years. For chapped consitions, and superficial abrasions. Bag Balm contains lanolin and stays on to provide moisturizing and softening. For pets, apply liberally to the affected areas. Contains no alcohol.

Happy with this product
This product has done what it said it would, my nails have definitely improved and I would use the balm again, the only disadvantage is that it is a little messy to use!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bought for guinea pugs skin 21 April 2014
Verified Purchase
After spending a lot of time and money at vets for new guinea pigs who developed skin sores i searched the internet and found that this is a good treatment for fungal infections in pets. Used on pigs skin ( after vet treatment) to help clear and ensure condition did not return). Similar consistency to vasaline but smells herbal. Seemed to help skin condition and pigs didn't mind having it put on ( their backs). Lots of recommendations on the net.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soft skin in a small package 11 Feb 2005
By Evin - Published on Amazon.com
This may have originally been marketed for cows seeking softer udders, but it has found a place on the chapped lips and dry elbows of humans everywhere. This small metal jar is darling and easy to carry in a purse or backpack. It is not flavored with anything. The popularity of Bag Balm is not in its smell anyway, it is all about how well it replenishes and protects chapped, dry, weather-worn, and cracked skin. I use it nightly on my lips. It is also a good way to condition hands and feet after winter has taken a toll on them. It has been around for scores of years for its usefulness and that speaks more highly of Bag Balm than any review I could write.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Life's Two Essentials 20 Sep 2006
By Stephen Moss - Published on Amazon.com
Great stuff for most anything chaped, scratched, or roughed on nearly any mammal. Not a bad lubricant either. All true Vermonters know there are very few things in life that cannot be fixed with bag balm, duct tape or both. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Works like magic!! 11 May 2006
By Saffron Dreams - Published on Amazon.com
Absolutely excellent product! I originally came across this product after having a horrible cold (the type where your garbage can is full of tissues!). I wiped my nose with the tissues so much that I had dry, flaky skin under my nose. It was horrible! I had somewhere very important to go to the next day and I was fretting. I called the local pharmacy and asked for a product they'd recommend. The pharmacist told me to try Bag Balm. I had never even heard of it before, but I gave it a shot because I was desperate.

I used this product and overnight, I kid you not, all my dry, flaky skin under my nose was gone! I was amazed. This stuff is apparently used on cows for skin abrasions, so it's pretty powerful. Nevertheless, I was thrilled that this product worked wonders over night. I would highly recommend it. Use it anywhere you have dry, flaky skin! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Accutane Users 11 Jan 2007
By H. McGonigle - Published on Amazon.com
This product was referred to me by a dermatologist when I began a four- month treatment of Accutane. It is the only product that got me through the soreness of cracked lips and peeling inside of my nose. For the common side effects of Accutane such as these, I would truly recommend Bag Balm. I would not, however, recommend putting bag balm on your face due to the greasy consistancy of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for pets! 5 Jun 2009
By sha2000 - Published on Amazon.com
I had seen this product but never bought it until yesterday. My guinea pig has a case of mites & her skin is a wreck, after a dose of Revolution (for cats) to kill the mites (a must), and smeared in Bag balm last night, she seems to be doing much better. Read several great reviews of this product online, saying it saved their pigs, hope it works as well for us...wish me luck with my piggy!
