The great features of Joyce Holms' writing - in this book as in all off her 'Buchanan and Fizz' series - is her ability to combine subtle and precise plotting of the type we all too often don't get in detective fiction with very alive and often off-the-wall characters who bounce off the page - witness the repeated appearance of "Johnnyboy, the chef" whose every utterance is a delight. This combined with some wonderful images and metaphors makes for a very enjoyable read indeed. Make no mistake: she is FUNNY. I've seen myself rolling about on the floor at her writing. The intellectual joy of the "whodunnit" with great entertainment.
Thoroughly recommended.
