Season 8 for me was average at best however I still would of bought the DVD were it not for the following: All 3 extended episodes are just the aired 40 min versions. This is especially noticable on the first episode in which the removed scenes dealed with the departure of Di & Kevin Spiers. Also the christmas special song (YMCA) has been changed but the inmates are all dancing to the removed song still! The last point is that there are virtually no extras (a photo gallery).

Maybe if your a die hard fan of bad Girls its worth a pick up simply to complete your collection but as a casual viewer or simply a fan this release in my opinion isn't worth it. The company responsible for this set could have done a much better job on this release had it not being rushed.

I have been a fan of Bad Girls since series 1 and I have all of them on DVD!. So i can't wait till I get my hands on this the final eighth series as it's been offically axed by ITV which is such a shame. I don't think it has it's 'PUNCH' as many of the harder inmates and staff have either been killed off or moved on. To my mind the series lost much of it's edge once Jim Fenner was killed off during series 7. But we have Amanda Donohoe as the new Wing Governor who likes to get on with everyone. I think the only weak storyline during this series was to kill off some key cast members with a 'legionares virus'. It seemed an easy fix to a problem that might have played out for half of the season. The Christmas Special is also included which is a story based on the Christmas carol! ( I kid you not). It envolves 'Bodybag' Sylvia Hollamby being haunted by the ghost of Natalie Buxton. All in all it's a very poor swansang for a series that started off with a bang and ended with a whimper !. However all in all this is a must buy to complete the collection of this brilliant hard hitting drama at Larkhall Prison.

With this series only being half way through on the TV so far, I'd like to say it was an explosive start with several deaths in the first episode and a gripping and controversial storyline with the wife of a suspected terrorist being locked up in Larkhall!
However, I was slightly disappointed with the lack of emotion showed towards the death of some key characters, having said that the newer ones do look promising and I look forward to the rest of the series. I will definately be ordering myself this box set asap.
