Review
"'... I regretfully had to ask my man to take me home so that I could be alone with my bowels.' '... She tried to kill me there and then on her veranda.' '... I became confused when she climbed under the bed sheets - and instead of asking me to join her - asked if I could possibly read her "a bit of Harry Potter".' '..."If you aren't out of here in ten seconds," she said, "I'll chop your fucking balls off.'" '...I'd been shat on.' '...it was like kissing a corpse.' '... It quickly became very clear that I was in my underpants in bed with two unknown Germans; who were slightly bewildered but certainly not hostile.' -."

Product Description
Charting the extraordinary encounters ordinary people around the world have undergone in the name of love, Bad Dates" lays bare (in more ways than one) the ritual of humiliation that is dating. The horrific tales it contains are sometimes embarrassing, often rude, and always absolutely hilarious; proving conclusively that for every match made in heaven, there are dozens more made in hell. From the man who had information about his underpants emailed to his entire office, to the couple who found their passions doused by an unexpected dip in a lake, via the girl who ruptured her stomach when over-indulging at an all-you-can-eat restaurant, these stories are a much-needed answer to the icky cliches normally surrounding romance. So, if you have loved and lost, crashed and burned, been humiliated, betrayed, abused and bemused, this is undoubtedly the book for you. And even if you haven't, you'll still enjoy laughing at all the fools who have.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mixed reception, 13 Jun 2007
By The sage (England) - See all my reviews
Taken from accounts sent into an internet site, this book was an interesting concept somewhat let down by a dull presentation (nary a photograph of the hapless couples) . Trying to compensate with some racy chapter headings didnt do it for me. Perhaps my expectations were too high having come to this from the authors previous books on crap towns which just begged to be picked up for perusal. That said it was a fairly entertaining read which I feel I could recommend for the beach if not the maiden aunt.
Despite the cover, there is a fair spread of bad dates from guys as well as females (even some gay dates). As a commentary on Britons' dating habits it is interesting in itself. One could feel little sympathy for those whose inebriation ruined the date ,likewise those whose sexual frustrations were not relieved on the first date. However, some of my particular favourites were the couple on a first date in Manchester whose taxi was taken over by a gun-toting maniac after their money, the guy who dropped everything to fly 2000 miles to Cyprus only to be stood up by a hard-bitten receptionist, and the girl who went on a blind date to find it was her best friend's boyfriend!

A very funny look at the world of dating. A mixture of laugh out loud and cringe-worthy moments. A great gift. Buy it now, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars this is a funny book, 1 Dec 2006

I laughed such a lot at this book I had to poo in a sock and throw it out of the window.
Get two copies of this book for xmas, keep one by the toilet (avoiding the sock issue and to make the whole toilet thing more fun) and give the other to someone you know who you think has had lots of bad dates (this might be someone you wouldn't normally give a present to).
What a bunch of idiots these people are! I love to laugh at them.
Others here are not so stupid, but unfortunate and hilarious things happen to them.
Some of the stories are short (the ones I read first), others are long. All of them are funny.
A few are not so funny, but just wierd
Thankyou Sam Jordison for another book to help us all laugh at this ridiculous world.
