Product Description

Product Description

The ebook inspired by the hugely popular Recipe Rifle blog.

One of the funniest cookbooks you are ever likely to read. And definitely the sweariest.

For over three years now, Esther Walker has been entertaining foodies with her hilarious Recipe Rifle blog. Charting her progress from bad cook to, well, not-so-bad cook, she is blistering honest about what works, and what doesn’t, in the kitchen. If a recipe works for her, it will probably work for you. If it doesn’t, she will swear quite a lot.

Crammed full of recipes, tips for entertaining, stories of pregnancy and tales of her husband (restaurant critic Giles Coren) coming home drunk, The Bad Cook will make you laugh out loud. It will also make you want to start cooking.

5.0 out of 5 stars My fave cookery writer 29 Mar 2013

Format:Kindle Edition
I love recipe rifle so I bought this book straight away, Esther feels like a friend to me, she is also about my level of home cook, so although this book is funny it is also a great cooking resource. Good on you Esther!

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential if you love Recipe Rifle 29 Mar 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love reading the blog and often think 'I want to make that' but, unless I make it right that minute, forget about it when it comes to thinking about cooking (except the courgette thing, I love the courgette thing) so having the recipes easily available is brilliant. But you don't have to be looking for something for dinner to love this book - just like the blog, it's very funny & very honest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing 28 Mar 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I hate cooking and more than that I hate cookery books. The glut of them in recent times makes one think there cannot be anything original out there, but this book, I am glad to say, is fabulous! Not sure if Ms Walker is a comic first or a cook second, but in all it makes for a hilarious read and the recipes are great. Maybe it's because you feel she is on your side that following these recipes feels less intimidating than those bestowed upon us by the cooking 'Gods' out there. Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars bloody love it! 3 April 2013

This book is funny and full of nice recipes.....what more do you want?! I've got a bit of a girl crush on Esther now....I think because I've got a child the same age as Kitty (her daughter) and I'm a bit obsessed with food, this book just speaks to me - I don't want to get to the end of it! Thank goodness for the blog is all I can say!

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing and very funny 3 April 2013
By Twinkes
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Esther's blog has become, literally, my favourite thing to read since I discovered it a year ago. It is terrific.... searingly honest and very, very funny. Even though I am an avid follower of her blog, I am really enjoying reading this kindle edition. I completely agree with other reviewer that Esther would be an amazing contributor to the Waitrose magazine....even if heavy editing would be necessary so as not to upset middle England !

5.0 out of 5 stars Love, love, love 3 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I have just read this from beginning to end, barely looking up long enough to hurl some fish fingers in the oven for my poor children. I adore Esther's writing and would recommend this book even if you have no intention of cooking anything from it; it's wonderfully entertaining and awfully sweary. Although, I guess that's not entering into the spirit of things. I fully intend to try my luck at many of the recipes and have complete trust in the recommendations of someone who describes being surprised by their newly toddling child in such a brilliantly accurate way. Buy it! I would like the next one now, please?

5.0 out of 5 stars Esther rocks! 3 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Utterly fabulous!! I made the corguette thingy to go with some grilled lombo whilst on holidays in portugal - so simple but effective. I love Esther's irreverence ..... "no need to dick around with rubbing or kneading".... she just tells it how it is. Much better ambassador for waitrose than pippa m. Great cook book but so much more than that... a witty clever life manual from a very funny lady...it inspires even the most awful cook. Top read!

5.0 out of 5 stars COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN!!! 3 April 2013

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Let me preface this review by saying that I love humour, reading and most of all FOOD. If you like any of the above you will surely love 'The Bad Cook' too. I had read one or two of Esther's posts on her blog but the fact that they are now consolidated into a book which I can read anywhere is amazing!! What more could you ask for than a well written, funny narration of someone's life, with a fab recipe at the end of every chapter? LOVE IT.
