Bad Becky is a hoot. I read parts of this to some Year 4 children, who found it laugh-out-loud hilarious and begged me to read them more. Cheeky, outspoken and always in trouble, Becky is the female version of Francesca Simon's Horrid Henry. She is the child that drives us all insane - and the one we secretly have a soft spot for... After all, wouldn't we all prefer to hear a story about a princess that gets eaten by the dragon, rather than the boring, soppy version? Becky certainly would, and she's as vehement on this matter as she is on just about every other situation that confronts her in this collection of short stories by the popular writer and former schools inspector Gervase Phinn.

Other titles in the series include:

As a retired primary school teacher who now tutors young children, I am always looking for books which appeal to this age group. The stories are short which is important and also contain humour which is necessary as some of the children have difficulty in reading. As I heard the author, Gervaise Phinn, speaking at a conference a few years ago, I knew his books would be amusing.
I look forward to buying more books in this series and other books by this author.

Awful. I may be out of touch with the stuff kids are reading but this is horrendous. The kid is an antagonistic liar. Rude and unkind. I don't understand why teachers are advocating this, how utterly depressing. It gives wholly unpleasant ideas about teachers and relatives, if this is what we get from anti-princess give me princess anytime! I'd be ashamed to write something so nasty for children.
