BAD is back 16 Sep 2005

"Bad Attitude" is the first full length BAD (Bureau of American Defence) story to make it into print. If you enjoyed the shorter stories available in this series, you will not be left disappointed.

Unknown to her family, Sydney Westbrook, aka Syd Vicious is a BAD agent who sometimes finds working undercover difficult due to her more than passing resemblance to a famous movie star. When BAD uncovers a plot to assassinate the President of Uhbukistan on America soil (potentially creating a nuclear incident), Syd is assigned to act as a spotter to the agency's own sniper, their plan to kill the assassin before he strikes. Unfortunately their regular sniper is unavailable and potential candidates are thin on the ground.

Imprisoned for 25 years after he takes a shot at his Commanding Officer, Joshua Steele is wary of the Government types who visit him with an offer difficult to refuse. A skilled sniper, Steele is offered release and an honourable discharge from the military if he joins BAD; however following the death of his best friend during his last mission he's not sure he can pull another trigger, even to save a significant life and avert a nuclear crisis. On the plus side, his spotter is a curvy Angelina Jolie look-a-like who gets to pose as his girlfriend.

This is a great book. Syd and Steele are intensely attracted to each other but both have reasons for not pursuing a relationship, in fact they find themselves far too busy trying to stay alive whilst avoiding an unknown contract killer. Steele is moody and defensive, yet with his wit, undeniable good looks and charm he worms his way into Syd's heart and when the pair do get time to explore their growing feelings things certainly heat up. SK is a talented and imaginative author who yet again delivers another scorcher, skilfully weaving together passion, humour and plenty of action.

Ms. Kenyon’s full-length effort “Bad Attitude” is bad in a very good way! This story was really a page turner with two very strong leads which at times can be overwhelming but here played perfectly.

Josh Steele former Army sniper is cooling his heels in Leavenworth after letting his temper get the best of him. So life for him is now peeling carrots and potatoes with a spoon. That is until BAD comes and waves a “get out of jail free” card. Only Steele doesn’t want to pick up a rifle again and the concept of going blindly into a situation with the intel he’s forced to use does not sit well with him. When he’s told that he has to have a partner on his mission he wants to refuse but he can’t. Sydney is not your average partner or lady. She’s something special but will Josh figure that out before it’s too late?

Sydney learned the hard way that men lie and cheat and can’t be trusted. That’s okay though because her work as a BAD agent doesn’t leave room for romance. So why is it she can’t think of anything else when around tough guy Steele? Will these two wounded people be able to help each other find the light at the end of the tunnel and abort an assassination or will they fail?

Sydney and Josh were compelling characters that were strong and not willing to back down all that often. This may put off readers but I recommend that they stick with the story, as they will be well rewarded in the end. Old friends as well as new ones are introduced over the course of this read. Ms. Kenyon truly knows how to weave a story and I don’t think it’s possible for her to pen a dud. If she has…I haven’t read it yet.

A BAD Review 25 Mar 2006
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
I love Sherrilyn Kenyan's Dark-Hunter series, but I have to say that this new genre is definitely not on the same level. The main problem for me was that the story was too much 'Rambo' and not enough romance. Car chases across the country, shoot-outs, criminals, in-depth details about guns, etc...maybe it was supposed to be a more 'adventurous' style of story, but it completely failed to pull me in and make me interested. Plus the romance and sex scenes were few and far between and very weak. I couldn't get excited about the hero and I couldn't sense the chemistry between him and the heroine.

All in all, I had to force myself to try and finish reading it, but gave up towards the end.
