Danny Trejo stars in this action film as a Vietnam veteran who finds fame after standing up to thugs on a bus. Instead of returning from the war to a hero's welcome, Frank Vega (Trejo) finds himself shunned by society, leaving him without a job or his high school sweetheart. Forty years later, he becomes an overnight internet sensation, when he is filmed protecting an elderly black man from a pair of skinheads on a local bus. But when his best friend is murdered and the police fail to respond, Frank decides it's time to take action as he gets mean, angry, and even.

I personally am a big Danny Trejo fan the guy is just so entertaining without trying, badass is the perfect movie for him to go around beating everybody down, the story is simple and the movie is cheap but its great fun to watch mainly for Trejo, some of the effects are pretty good and there is some bloody violence and a decent supporting cast so if youre a fan its certainly worth a watch for a bit of easy on the brain laid back fun, no features again which is a shame.

Check out the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB. The film is an action comedy, over the top like pulp fiction and hobo with a shotgun. Campy culty action. If you have a sense of humor you will love. If you dont believe me check out the websites or ratings on other usa sites

Decorated Vietnam hero Frank Vega returns home only to get shunned by society leaving him without a job or his high school sweetheart.

It's not until forty years later when an incident on a commuter bus (where he protects an elderly black man from a pair of skin heads) makes him a local hero where he's suddenly celebrated once again.

But his good fortune suddenly turns for the worse when his best friend Klondike is murdered and the police aren't doing anything about it....

Take and epic you tube video filmed by people who were against the man in question, and add a little plot, and a bit of Red Heat and you have this.

It's a B-movie of the highest order, something that Charles Bronson would have made in the late eighties, so it needs to be seen with a large pinch of salt.

It's fun though while it lasts, the one liners come thick and fast, and Trejo as you would expect is very good in the title role and gives a great performance.

The rest of the cast are just pure filler and people like Perlman, and Dutton, didn't really have to be in this movie, as they don't really add anything to the proceedings.

If you like late eighties action movies, then this is for you...

There is nothing like getting cozy with a warm and fuzzy Danny Trejo vigilante film with a hot cup of cocoa made with my Keurig coffee machine bought on the Amazon. Oh Wait! I'm not in the vine program. Never mind.

Danny Trejo, ex-Vietnam war vet, hot dog stand entrepreneur, becomes a reluctant vigilante after his war buddy Klondike (Harrison Page) was murdered. The police are dragging their feet on the investigation. The movie compares him to Charles Bronson, but at times he is more like Harry Brown. Ron Perlman has a minor role as the crooked mayor. Very cliche filled film.

It attempts to be funny, but can really only muster mild humor. Perhaps the funniest aspect is how our tough BA vigilante takes the bus everywhere he has to go to find the bad guys. This is not the grindhouse style Trejo fans are used to seeing, although it does turn bloody after a slow start. It is worth a rental.

Frequent F-bomb, brief sex, brief nudity

Danny Trejo (Machete) plays Frank Vega; a Vietnam-war veteran who has achieved pretty much nothing with his life after returning home. Old, bitter & disillusioned Frank wallows in his life until a random fight sees Frank trounce two skinhead-racists on the bus. Instantly uploaded to the internet; Frank becomes a viral celebrity & local hero. But when his friend Klondike is murdered for his involvement in something, Frank becomes eager to clean-up the neighbourhood, much to the chagrin of the local police and finally find who is responsible for his friend's murder.

Bad Ass is set in central L.A. - we know this due to the 3:20-long introduction that credits almost everyone in the entire film to a series of mariachi-backed, moving-shots of L.A. through a yellow-filter as Youtube videos play and news articles flash up. Initially it's cool, it's just that it goes on for so long!! For the most part, the acting is acceptable, Ron Perlman (Hellboy) even makes a bit-part as the local Senator. Where Bad Ass really falls flat is the unimaginative plot and 1993 word documents & graphs (you'll see what I mean) for a plot-critical document.

Extra content: A director's commentary and a making-of featurette. Neither of them are that interesting in all honesty!

The scene with the garbage-disposal unit will stay with me, but that's about the only thing that makes this film stand out. Unimaginative script, time-worn plot devices, unbelievable love interest and hilarious-dated props. The central premise of this film just seems to be Danny Trejo, grimacing with his signature face, whilst beating the crap out of people. Not bad for a mindless movie, but not that great either.

A low budget film that raises laughs and a warm smile with Trejo's performance.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. The story isn't going to win any awards, neither will the acting; but do you really expect that from the cover, title or the actor.

I could write a full and lengthy review here...but is it really needed? I will watch it again and I will check out the sequel.
