I can't believe this hasn't been reviewed - it's a gem.

An eight-part docu-series follows NOFX on their 2006 tour with a difference - the itinerary involves visiting dangerous places...Colombia, South Africa, Israel and many more. They also wanted to play certain countries where they had never sold a single record!

As you can imagine, there are many interesting highs and lows. The band and crew come across as decent, friendly guys who love what they do. However, I am slightly worried about their livers!

What were my favourite moments? I'm spoilt for choice, but I'll give you two examples.

1) The police cancelled the Peruvian gig and (next morning) Fat Mike played two impromptu songs in the hotel lobby to 100+ noisy, adoring fans.

2) In South Korea, a girl looking for a good time gets backstage and starts pestering Fat Mike. Hilariously, she becomes infuriated when the cool singer explains that he's been married 14 years and would never cheat. (On the bonus footage, you get an extended version of the row.)

Just buy this DVD - you won't be disappointed.

I have been a NOFX fan for the past 20 years and I don't just love them for their brilliant music but for being a true punk band. Having played together as a band for 27 years NOFX have always done things their own way. They have shunned the main stream media and big record labels and instead set up their own label which gave them complete control and kept the censors away.

It is the band's reluctance to do any interviews and thus the limited information available about who they really are which makes Back Stage Passport such an interesting and great show to watch. They set off on a world tour of obscure countries, bringing punk rock to people perhaps not familiar with the genre and the show details all the ups and downs of their journey.

They probably lose money as they get tricked by shady promoters, one show is cancelled and for one there is no venue booked and they play a show attended by 25 people. The band come across as genuinely nice people who just want to play their music to the 'kids'. All the stress about money and organisation is left to their manager Kent who is a great character who likes to drink, a lot.

This show is a rare opportunity to get some insight behind the scenes of one of the last true punk bands. Take it.

You gotta love this band. One of the few Punk bands who have never sold out to the big 5. This is a funny look into all that is involved in taking the band on a crazy tour to Countries they have never even sold one cd, sometimes not getting paid, sometimes not even getting to play.

Don't expect any live shows but do expect to laugh out loud.

Very entertaining 19 Mar 2009

I was unable to watch this show while it was airing on TV, so I was very excited to hear that it was coming out on DVD. It's great. You certainly don't need to be a NOFX fan, or even a fan of punk music, to enjoy it. I'm recommending it to friends of mine I'm sure would hate NOFX. It has funny moments (the fans showing Smelly no love), touching moments (Fat Mike missing his daughter's birthday), tense moments (an anti-religion band in religion-heavy territory), and moments where you just have to admire the band's ambition and what they're trying to accomplish on this tour. And they're doing it totally wasted! The footage is honest, NOFX are an open book. I thouroughly enjoyed watching it, and I haven't even made it to the bonus disc yet.

Classic nofx guys even as adults. You get to see them get screwed over just like they have been for the last 20 years, yet they still make it fun. Definitely worth a cop.

This is an excellent look at the more personal side of the band and how they can surprise you in some situations. They make you wish you were with them!
