After a nine-year break, Chicago harpist Billy Boy Arnold returned with this fine set, which opens with a great remake of his classic "I Wish You Would".
Dominated by Arnold's harp, and by pianists Rob Rio and Andy Kaulkin, this is sturdy electric blues a la Muddy Waters or Jimmy Rogers, and the numerous highlights include the Chuck Berry-styled rocker "Move On Down The Road" (great boogie piano by Andy Kaulkin), the swinging "Fool For You", the tough, swaggering "You Got Me Wrong", and a cover of "Shake Your Boogie", originally by Arnold's one-time mentor, John Lee "Sonny Boy" Williamson.
Not everything is equally magnificent, or particularly orginal, but there is more than enough here to make "Back Where I Belong" a worthwhile purchase for fans of classic Chicago blues.
3½ stars.
