25 plus years for your second album, but hey it is totally worth the wait ! They should have been massive first time round but that is the luck of the music business. This album is superb, a lot of these tracks were written in the 80's for the follow up album to shaft of light but until now have never seen the light of day. They sound fresh and deserve attention in light of some of the music that is about today. Give this album a chace you won't be disappointed. Guys try not to take another 25 years for the 3rd album.

This album is a real rare gem nowadays. The first Airrace album (Shaft of Light) was always a favourite of mine when it was released and despite the massive amount of time between releases, Back To The Start actually manages to retain continuity. Also, like the first album, the standard of songwriting here remains exceptional with every track having its merit. Another positive point is it has really good production quality so it comes across nice and loud and crisp.
I really can't stop listening to this cd, it still remains in my car cd player where other artists releases have come and gone. The simplest summary I can give is take a fist full of Airrace, add a pinch of Styx and Magnum at their very best, bring it all up to date and you have this album. Highly recommended.

Incredible melodic hard rock - seemingly out of nowhere!

"Back to the Start" is the second studio album by British melodic hard rock group "Airrace", released in 2011. With their debut dating back to the early '80s a new line-up of "Airrace" was put together to tour and record a brand new studio album for "Frontiers Records".
"Back to the Start" is that album, and a huge surprise for any melodic hard rock/AOR fan who has not heard of "Airrace" before. "Back to the Start" mixes the best out of the British and North American school of melodic rock, baring the melodic essence of "Shy" and early "Survivor" while integrating masterful/technical arrangements in the style of "Toto" and "Styx".
"Back to the Start" delivers the optimum in both melody and groove, add to that the stellar songwriting, intense performances, a very convincing lead vocalist Keith Murrell and you have one of the best melodic hard rock albums of the 2011. Honestly it is quite amazing how artistically credible this "Airrace" album is, while I have to say that I was not a big fan of their debut. "Airrace" really got everything right on this second studio effort- melodic guitar lines, thick rhythmic keyboard harmonies, inventive-AOR rhythm section and sensational vocals. "Keep on Going", "Two of a kind", "Call me anytime" and "So long" are perfectly indicative of the class of `Back to the Start".

I knew Airrace from the 80's being a band Jason Bonham was once in, and their debut was a record of it's time. Synth-rock pop with that, now dated mid-80's sound. Fast forward 25 years or so, and Airrace are back with album No. 2. It never crossed my mind to pick this up, but I love Classic Rock Magazine, and a couple of issues featured some songs on their free cd from the NEW Airrace Back to the Start, and I must say I was very much impressed with how melodic, and more importantly, rocking their new songs are. Very guitar driven, rock n roll, and yes melodic, yet without sounding nostalgic. So I took a shot and picked this CD up, and on a whim, it's a new favorite of mind. I can listen to this in it's entirety and repeated listen from beginning to end over and over again, it's that good. Probably a melodic Top 10 release of the year, and one pleasant surprise.
